Our Pastor

Michael Zwernemann and his wife Karen joined Lyons Evangelical Church as members in 2021.  Michael was baptized here at this church in June of 1970.  Since joining the church, they have served as youth group leaders, youth camp leaders, and youth Sunday School teachers.  They have also led the Adult Vacation Bible School for the past two years.

Michael had been praying for God’s direction in ministry for quite some time.  He answered God’s call to enter pastoral ministry in June of 2023 and applied for the pastoral position.  After much prayer by everyone, Lyons Evangelical Church called Michael to be their pastor in August of 2023. 

Pastor Michael earned a bachelor’s degree from Concordia University Texas in May of 2009.  He is currently working on a Master of Divinity Degree while he serves as pastor and works as an Outside Plant Engineer for a communications company.  In all things, Pastor Michael and his wife Karen continue to follow God’s lead while God’s Word is shared in His Church and out in the community.

Previous Ministry Experience: Sunday School teacher, assisted with confirmation classes, Elder, Church Council President, helping with junior and senior youth groups, and Stephen’s Ministry.

Hobbies: Family time, hunting, fishing, taking care of the cows, exploring back roads, history, and all things outdoors.

Passions:  Ministry, visitation, music, watching high school and college football, and writing.

Favorite Scripture: Psalm 46:10 “Be still and know that I am God.  I will be exalted among the nations; I will be exalted in the earth!”
